Sanchez tries to establish substance abuse center

Sen. Michael Sanchez is trying to establish a substance abuse treatment and training facility in Los Lunas.

According to SJR7, the facility would occupy a building on the existing Los Lunas campus, otherwise known to locals at the old hospital and training school. It would be run by the New Mexico Human Services Department.

The joint resolution initiates the process for approving a lease purchase agreement for the facility.

Related to the facility, Sanchez has also requested a $10,000 appropriation as SB176 for “holistic alternative healthy lifestyle workshops for parents, grandparents and guardians of youth who are victims of substance abuse or addiction or domestic violence or who are engaged in unhealthy and risky behaviors.”
