– Tony Sylvester, a planner with the Mid-Region Council of Governments (MRCOG), speaking at a public meeting in Belen on Wednesday about local characteristics the City of Belen should maintain as the city develops. Sylvester was presenting a draft of the Belen Station Area Planning Study, a comprehensive study of a half-mile radius around the Rail Runner station.

The plan calls for for creating the Rail Runner station area as a mixed-use development, including new compact residential neighborhoods, commercial growth and preservation of Gabaldon Road’s agriculture.

MRCOG will host a second public meeting at Belen City Hall on April 22 to further discuss the study and receive public input.
