“It’s important to understand that New Mexico has an incredible art community statewide. Santa Fe is a bustling art area — that’s the economy up there. We have comparable work in our gallery to Santa Fe at a fraction of the price, except people don’t know about it unless they come down here. What would cost up there $1,000, you could pick up at our gallery for 250 bucks. It’s important to develop an art community which is a magnet calling people down here who say Belen is a tremendous cultural event.”

– David Mintz, a local artist and representative of the Belen Art League’s gallery on Becker Avenue in Belen, asked the City of Belen to show its support for the art community by helping artists advertise in Santa Fe and along the New Mexico Rail Runner Express corridor.
