Board approves arsenic cleanup

June 10, 2009

The Belen Consolidated Schools Board of Education last night awarded a $330,000 bid to TLC Plumbing to provide arsenic filtration systems at three schools.

The three schools have water with levels of arsenic higher than government regulation allows.

The filtration and monitoring systems will be installed at La Promesa, Gil Sanchez and Dennis Chavez elementary schools, according to Max Cordova, the district’s projects manager.
