County to receive PILT money

Valencia County will receive more than $79,000 from the federal government as compensation for federal property within the county that the county can’t tax, according to United States Sen. Jeff Bingaman’s office.

The United States Department of the Interior program responsible for the compensation is known as PILT, or payment in lieu of taxes.
