Garley: I won’t be around after March

Belen City Manager Sally Garley told Valencia! yesterday she’s predicting she won’t be the municipality’s manager after March, when a new mayor is elected.

While she left open the possibility that she would accept an appointment to the position at that time, if asked by the new mayor, she said the current mayor’s departure means she’ll likely be departing, too.

Garley said she has no intention of resigning from the position ahead of March’s mayoral election.

Right now, the only announced mayoral candidate is Councilor Rudy Jaramillo. Other names floated as possible candidates are councilors Wayne Gallegos and Terese Ulivarri.

Gallegos has said he won’t make a decision about running until early fall. Ulivarri hasn’t spoken publicly about it.
