Lightning-struck girl released from hospital
July 21, 2009
The girl who was struck by lightning last night in Los Lunas has been released from the hospital and is doing fine.
Eleven-year-old Brittnee was taken to the hospital last night after she was indirectly struck by lightning while sitting in a garage eating her dinner.
Brittnee and another child had asked to eat dinner in the garage, with the garage door open, during the lightning stormĀ and while the rest of her family sat around the dinner table inside.
The girl had black smudges around her mouth that doctors wiped away, the girl’s aunt, Kathyrn Mendez Hernandez, said. They identified tiny burns in her mouth.
The body numbness Brittnee felt immediately after the incident has since gone away.
“She seems to be having no problems at all,” Hernandez said.
