Commission finalizes headstart at senior center

August 06, 2009

The Meadow Lake Senior Center will soon be used to house a headstart program.

The county commission has unanimously voted to approve a lease agreement for use of the facility by Mid-West Community Action Partnership’s (Mid-West CAP’s) early childhood development program.

The county will now allow Mid-West CAP to use three rooms in the facility, including two large rooms on the building’s east side, as well as office space.

The program will collaborate with Valencia County’s Older American Program on food service to help feed senior citizens. It will also pay a portion of the utilities.

Commissioner Don Holliday said allowing the program into the facility will cut down on the facility’s operating costs.
