Cordova selected to head Belen MainStreet

April 26, 2010

Just a few weeks after former Belen Mayor Ronnie Torres resigned as the head of the Belen MainStreet Partnership, the partnership’s board of directors has selected Belen City Councilor Jerah R. Cordova to lead it.

The Belen MainStreet Partnership is a downtown revitalization group.

It formed nearly one year ago as a MainStreet Emerging Community with the help of New Mexico MainStreet, a program of the New Mexico Economic Development Department.

Because Cordova had been serving as vice president, the board has selected Leeanae Griego as the new vice president.

The partnership also approved several new board members, honorary members and business members.

Last week, the board also approved the group’s MainStreet district, which is the area where it’ll concentrate most of its revitalization activities.

The approved Belen MainStreet district.

The district includes most of the area between Reinken Avenue at the north, Becker Avenue at the south, the Burlington Northern Santa Fe railyard at the east and Main Street at the west.
