Jerah R. Cordova is mayor in Belen, New Mexico. He was elected in March 2010, to serve a four-year term as city councilor. He was elected mayor in March 2014.
Jerah works full-time as the director of the Personnel Security Investigative Division at ADC LTD NM, a federal contractor that conducts national security investigations. He oversees five multimillion dollar federal contracts. Through ADC, he is also an investigator with the United States Department of Homeland Security and the United States Department of Defense.
Jerah graduated with a bachelor's degree in journalism and political science from The George Washington University in Washington, DC, in 2006. While in college, he worked with former Congresswoman Heather Wilson (now Secretary of the Air Force), gave history tours of the Capitol Building, and spent one semester digging around the United States National Archives for documents about World War II atomic bomb development in New Mexico.
During the past four years as mayor, Jerah is most proud to have brought more than 250 new jobs to Belen, most notably 175 manufacturing jobs when Keter Plastics came to Belen. He also brought retail and service jobs, like at Belen's new Loves Travel Stop due to open in early 2018.
