Valencia County’s unemployment has fallen three-tenths of a percent from March to April, according to numbers released today by the United States Bureau of Labor Statistics.

In March, the county had an unemployment rate of 6.9 percent. That number was down to 6.6 percent in April.

The downward movement in the unemployment rate could be evidence that the county’s economy is recovering. Unemployment numbers for May, which will help determine if the fall in unemployment is part of a longer trend or temporary relief in a tough economy, won’t be released until the end of this month.

The county’s unemployment rate had quickly trended upward from October to March.
