Lardner to run for district 7 state representative

Belen-area businessman Tim Lardner said today he’s expecting he’ll run for district seven state representative in 2010.

“We have the intent to run until the day we can sign up,” he said.

The seat is held by Democratic Rep. Andrew Barreras of Tome.

Barreras defeated Lardner, a Rio Communities Republican, in the general election last year by a comfortable 11-point margin. It was, however, the closest race among Valencia County’s state senators and representatives.

No other candidates have announced as primary election challengers to either Barreras or Lardner.
